Selling your perspective:

People often say that what I bring is a great story to my projects. There’s (always) a story behind it (because) I connected it to something I experienced or associated with from real life.— So be passionate about your own work and how to articulate it … because as your work.”

—Deon Mixon, Graphic Designer, Author, Entrepreneur

Making Design Fun!

Our guest, Deon Mixon is a Graphic Designer, Author, and Educator from Detroit, Michigan. He’s a graduate of West Michigan University and alumni of Cass Tech. Deon also wrote a series of books called The Lethal Creed Saga and is a brand identity designer at Gyro.

Our conversation is focused on the fact that he is the creator of the world’s first graphic design educational board game, Design Eye that was fully funded on Kickstarter. We focus on How board games are a great way to teach design to young creatives. How he conceived the idea and why having people of color exposed to creativity so important for the future of the profession.

An educator, designer, and a creative catalyst, George is a native New Yorker who started a podcast in 2017, because he didn't like to write. He also wanted a way to learn and chronicle varied ways or making. We hope you enjoy his journey.
